The Giants acquired second baseman Scooter Gennett and cash from the Reds for a player to be named. Gennett was saying goodbye to teammates after Cincinnati's 4-1 win over the Pirates on Wednesday.

Gennett, a seven-year veteran, is hitting .217. He's been limited to 21 games due to a right groin strain and didn't make his 2019 debut until June 28.

The Chicago Cubs have acquired outfielder Nicholas Castellanos from the Detroit Tigers.

The Tigers received right-handed pitching prospects Alex Lange and Paul Richan in the deal.

The Astros made the biggest move of Wednesday's trade deadline, acquiring right-hander Zack Greinke from the Diamondbacks for four prospects.

Greinke joins a rotation that includes Justin Verlander and Gerrit Cole.

Houston sent right-hander Corbin Martin, right-hander J.B. Bukauskas, first baseman Seth Beer and infielder Josh Rojas to Arizona to complete the deal.

The Braves have deals in place to acquire Tigers closer Shane Greene and Giants reliever Mark Melancon, pending medicals, sources told MLB.com's Jon Paul Morosi on Wednesday. The clubs have not confirmed either deal.

MLB Network insider Ken Rosenthal was first to report that the Braves and Tigers were close to the Greene trade. It's not known what Detroit is getting in return for Greene.

The Philadelphia Phillies have acquired outfielder Corey Dickerson from the Pittsburgh Pirates, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan.

Dickerson is hitting .300 with four homers and 25 RBIs this season. He hit a career-high 27 dingers for the Rays in 2017.

The D-backs have agreed to a deal for right-hander Zac Gallen, a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand. Miami is set to acquire Arizona's No. 1-ranked prospect, Jazz Chisholm. The clubs have not confirmed.

Gallen, who is the the Marlins' No. 5-ranked prospect, is 1-3 with a 2.72 ERA in seven starts this season.

The Washington Nationals bolstered their bullpen prior to the trade deadline Wednesday, acquiring Roenis Elias and Hunter Strickland from the Seattle Mariners, sources confirmed to ESPN's Jeff Passan.

The Reds made another deal involving a starting pitcher, trading right-hander Tanner Roark to the Athletics, sources confirmed to ESPN's Jeff Passan.

The Reds agreed to the trade just hours before the 4 p.m. ET deadline Wednesday.

Roark, 32, went 6-7 with a 4.24 ERA in 21 starts with the Reds this season.

The A’s will send center fielder Jameson Hannah to the Reds.

The Giants have made their first significant move ahead of the trade deadline, dealing reliever Ray Black and swingman Drew Pomeranz to the Brewers for a top middle-infield prospect, Mauricio Dubon, according to a major-league source.

Dubon, 25, is a right-handed hitter who has played some outfield. He was hitting .297 with 16 homers and an .809 OPS for Triple-A San Antonio.
